Supergirl Actress Nicole Maines Announces New Memoir; Everything you need to know

Actress Nicole Maines, who identifies as transgender, has announced the launch of her book on April 30th, which will be released in October. Her memoir, It Gets Better…Except When It Gets Worse, will be released by The Dial Press and will follow her journey in the LGBTQ+ community.

Nicole Maines, a transgender activist and Yellowjackets actress, opens up about her past in her new project,  It Gets Better… Except When It Gets Worse, a tell-all memoir about her incredible journey to Hollywood, which includes securing her first major role on the CW’s Supergirl, as television’s first live-action transgender superhero. Her memoir recounts Nicole’s experience from her perspective.

Nicole said in a recent interview with PEOPLE that she has always struggled to find a platform for her voice. She tried to use social media platforms but was met with a wall of online trolls and racists and she was seeking a way to express her point of view without creating unnecessary controversy. This book helped the actress to express her mind.

Nicole added, “Over the course of writing It Gets Better, what started as a memoir became a collection of the thoughts, feelings and fears that occupy my brain while I try to keep my grip on my own sanity as the world revolves around me. It’s more fun than I make it sound.”
