Ryan Gosling’s The Fall Guy Receives Flack for Johnny Depp-Amber Heard Joke

The Fall Guy, starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, has not even been released in theatres but has already drawn criticism for all the wrong reasons. The joke in the Hollywood movie about Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s “abusive marriage” has drawn a lot of criticism.

David Leitch’s action comedy film features a scene when Hannah Waddingham’s character Gail Meyer alludes to Johnny and Amber’s chaotic relationship. This scene caused controversy among the viewers.

In the scene, Waddingham, who plays the role of an executive producer in the film, arrives at a trailer looking rumpled and tells director Jody Moreno, played by Emily, “It’s like Amber and Johnny were just in here”.

This line of dialogue has sparked significant debate among those who have seen the film during screenings. They’re taking to social media to express their disappointment. The estranged celebrity couple has accused one other of domestic violence and abuse since their separation in 2016.

One user wrote on X, “Domestic violence is not a joke.” Another said, “Oh wow…domestic violence is now a punchline? Disgusting,” wrote another netizen. One user called the joke “terrible and tasteless”. Many Hollywood portals contacted Universal Pictures, The Fall Guy’s distributor, for comment. They have not yet responded to the same.
