Anne Hathaway’s Tonight Show Interview Turned Super Awkward; Here’s what happend
Anne Hathaway had an embarrassing moment during her recent appearance on The Tonight Show. The 41-year-old actress spoke with Jimmy Fallon on Monday. While promoting her new movie, The Idea of You, Hathaway questioned the audience whether they had read the book on which it was based. Despite her hopes that at least one or two individuals would read it, the audience’s reaction was cringe-worthy. Fortunately, Fallon jumped in at the right moment.
When the Devil Wears Prada star inquired, “Has anybody here read the book?” the silence echoed as everyone in the audience gazed at her. When Fallon saw the awkward moment, he swiftly looked to lighten the situation.
“No, we don’t read. This is ‘The Tonight Show.’ You want to go to Stephen Colbert if you want to get people to read books. Lame!” He joked. As the audience burst in laughter, the late-night show host said, “We do Audible here.” However, the actress took the joke a step further, sarcastically asking, “What’s a book?”
“We don’t read. This is the Tonight Show. You wanna go over to Stephen Colbert if you wanna get people that read books.”
