Anne Hathaway reveals she’s five years sober: ‘Feels like a milestone’

Anne Hathaway stated that she has been sober for more than five years. In a recent interaction with The New York Times, the star revealed she vowed to stop drinking until her sons Jonathan, 8, and John, 4, are adults.

The actress stated that, while she does not talk about it often, she feels proud to have been sober for more than five years. She calls it a “milestone.” “Forty feels like a gift. The fact of the matter is I hesitate at calling things ‘middle age’ simply because I can be a semantic stickler and I could get hit by a car later today. We don’t know if this is middle age. We don’t know anything,” Anne said.

On The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2019, Anne Hathaway spoke about beginning her sobriety. She said,  “I’m gonna stop drinking while my son’s living in my house. I don’t totally love the way I (drink) and he’s getting to an age where he really does need me all the time in the mornings… I did one school run one day where I dropped him off at school, I wasn’t driving, but I was hungover and that was enough for me. I didn’t love that one.”

Meanwhile, Anne will soon be seen in Michael Showalter’s romantic comedy The Idea of You, with Nicholas Galitzine. She will also appear in Flowervale Street and Mother Mary.
