Marla Adams, The Young And The Restless Star, Dies Aged 85
Marla Adams, who rose to fame on the popular daytime soap opera “The Young and the Restless,” as Dina Abbott Mergeron, has died at the age of 85. Matt Kane, the show’s director of media and talent, affirmed the news on Thursday in Los Angeles, according to Variety.
Adams’ career in daytime drama began in 1968 with her appearance as Belle Clemens on ‘The Secret Storm.’ Her talent showed through and captivated audiences until 1974.
However, her legendary performance as Dina Abbott Mergeron on ‘The Young and the Restless,’ which she joined in 1982, cemented her place in television history.
Adams’ portrayal of Dina Abbott Mergeron captured the spirit of the Abbott family matriarch, giving the character depth and complexity. Her portrayal as the mom of Ashley, Traci, and Jack Abbott charmed her fans worldwide.
During her 37-year run on ‘The Young and the Restless,’ Adams made an unforgettable impression on the program, appearing frequently until her full-time comeback in 2017. Her portrayal of Dina’s struggle with Alzheimer’s illness received critical praise and earned her a Daytime Emmy Award in 2021.
Aside from her position on ‘c,’ Adams appeared in more than 40 shows, including ‘The Bold and the Beautiful,’ ‘Days of our Lives’ and ‘The Golden Girls.
