Dune director Denis Villeneuve to direct a movie about nuclear war?

Following the success of “Dune: Part Two,” it has been reported that Canadian director Denis Villeneuve is in talks to helm a movie based on Annie Jacobsen’s nonfiction book “Nuclear War: A Scenario.”

Legendary Entertainment, an American film production company, has picked Pulitzer Prize finalist Annie Jacobsen’s nonfiction book ‘Nuclear War: A Scenario’ as a possible reteaming with ‘Dune: Part Two’ director Denis Villeneuve.

Furthermore, the production company announced that it is collaborating with Villeneuve on a third ‘Dune’ movie. Tanya Lapointe, his producing partner, would also work on the project.

As per reports, the book, which was released on March 26, “explores a ticking-clock scenario about what would happen in the event of a nuclear war, based on dozens of exclusive new interviews with military and civilian experts who built the weapons and have been privy to the response plans and have been responsible for those decisions should they have needed to be made.”

Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two,” which has made 630 million dollars globally, is still doing good at the box office. The sequel, which stars Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet and other actors, is now 2024’s highest-earning film. Chalamet portrays Paul Atreides in the movie. After its 2021 release, Villeneuve’s first “Dune” movie earned a total of 402 million dollars worldwide.
