Ariana Grande’s grandmother had a very specific reaction to ‘Wicked’

Ariana Grande is not only receiving rave reviews for her role as Glinda in the film adaptation of Wicked, but she’s also proving herself to be a front-runner for the coveted title of “Granddaughter of the Year.” Despite a jam-packed press tour for the movie, Ariana made sure to carve out time for her family, flying to Boca Raton, Florida, to watch the film with her beloved nonna, Marjorie Grande.

Ariana shared a heartwarming Instagram post showing her at Cinemark 20, the very theater where she grew up, enjoying the movie alongside her nonna, her brother Frankie, and Wicked co-star Ethan Slater. The sweet family moment didn’t end there—Ariana also revealed that her grandmother was particularly taken with a Sugar Glider’s drum solo in the movie, even exclaiming loudly, “Oh, I LOVE that!” Ariana made sure to tag the film’s director, Jon M. Chu, to pass on Nonna’s praise.

Wicked is already a massive hit, dominating the box office in its opening weekend with $114 million in domestic earnings and $164 million globally. The film, which also stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, and more, has been showered with critical acclaim, particularly for its performances and visuals.
