Trump won, so is outspoken Trump critic Whoopi Goldberg leaving America?

Andrew Tate, the controversial British-American kickboxer turned influencer, is celebrating Donald Trump’s election win, boasting about his return to the U.S. under a second Trump administration. In a recent video shared on X (with a content warning), Tate, who is currently living in Romania while facing serious sexual assault and sex trafficking charges, took aim at several celebrities who had previously claimed they would leave the country if Trump won again. He specifically called out Whoopi Goldberg, who famously said during Trump’s 2016 campaign, “Maybe it’s time for me to move, you know. I can afford to go.”

Despite Goldberg’s vocal criticism of Trump over the years, Tate seems to have missed the fact that she didn’t leave in 2016, and there’s no indication she plans to now. In fact, Goldberg clarified years ago that she wouldn’t leave the U.S. because of Trump. After the 2016 election, she explained, “Just to be clear, I wouldn’t leave this country for him to p*** all over, for any reason.” She went on to say, “I’ve been here since the late 1700s,” referencing her family’s long history in the country, and emphasized, “I’m not leaving the country that I was born and raised in.”

Goldberg’s public feud with Trump continued, with her blunt comments on The View such as, “He’s the president. I’m still not going to say his name,” and calling for his impeachment. Even after Trump trolled her with a post on Truth Social saying “Canada doesn’t want you, Whoopi, NOBODY DOES!!!” in 2023, Goldberg didn’t back down. She responded, “I’m not going anywhere. And it’s not for the reason — you little snowflake — it’s not for the reason you think,” adding, “I know where I’m going to be because I got a contract.”

Goldberg has remained firm in her stance that she’s not leaving the U.S., and considering her recent comments, it seems unlikely she ever will. While Tate and other Trump supporters like to use this as a jab, the facts don’t quite support their narrative. In fact, Goldberg’s fans on social media have been rallying behind her, supporting her in her verbal sparring with Trump.

Tate also mentioned Cher in his post, recalling her statement from Trump’s first run when she joked that if he won, she’d move to Jupiter. We’re not sure if Tate realizes that moving to Jupiter isn’t exactly an option for anyone—at least not yet—but that didn’t stop him from throwing out the comment.

In short, while Tate is basking in the victory of another Trump presidency, his portrayal of the celebrities who supposedly vowed to leave is far from accurate, especially when it comes to Whoopi Goldberg.
