Jonathan Majors is no longer facing a lawsuit from his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, who had accused the actor of assault and defamation earlier this year. In March 2024, Jabbari filed a lawsuit claiming that Majors had defamed her after he continued to assert in interviews that he had never laid hands on a woman, despite being convicted of misdemeanor reckless assault and harassment the previous year. However, on November 21, 2024, both parties filed a notice with the court stating that the claims against Majors had been dismissed with prejudice, meaning they cannot be refiled. Neither side provided a specific reason for the dismissal.
Majors’ legal troubles began in March 2023 when he was arrested in New York after a domestic dispute with Jabbari. The incident led to charges, and in December 2023, Majors was found guilty of two misdemeanor counts and ordered to attend domestic violence counseling. Following the verdict, Majors maintained his innocence, claiming he had never assaulted a woman. This stance led to the defamation lawsuit from Jabbari, which has now been dropped.
The legal and public fallout from these incidents significantly impacted Majors’ career. He was once poised to be a central figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), playing the role of Kang the Conqueror. However, after his conviction, Marvel severed ties with him, and Robert Downey Jr. was reportedly brought back to play Doctor Doom as a replacement for Kang. Additionally, Majors was dropped by his management and PR teams.
Despite these setbacks, Majors maintains his innocence and is looking to make a comeback in Hollywood. His only current project is Merciless, a thriller directed by Martin Villeneuve, which is still in pre-production. The film Magazine Dreams, which also stars Majors, was initially slated for a 2023 release but will now arrive in 2025, after being picked up by Briarcliff Entertainment from Searchlight Pictures.
