Why Salma Hayek Didn’t Sign A Prenup With Billionaire François-Henri Pinault

Salma Hayek recently opened up about her marriage to François-Henri Pinault, the CEO of Kering, revealing that the couple never signed a prenuptial agreement when they married in 2009. Despite her husband’s massive fortune, estimated at $21.8 billion, Hayek has always prioritized financial independence. In an interview with *The Wall Street Journal*, she emphasized her drive to build her own wealth and support herself, saying, “I have the pressure to make a certain amount of money, and I like it. And now, I decided, I want to make more.”

While they manage their finances separately, Hayek has carved out her own successful career in Hollywood, becoming not only an acclaimed actress but also a producer. She is committed to personal financial growth and is motivated by the desire to pursue new business opportunities, which she says are supported by Pinault. She even joked that he finds her entrepreneurial spirit “kind of sexy.”

In addition to her career, Hayek is deeply involved in philanthropic work, particularly with the Kering Foundation, which combats gender-based violence. Her work with the foundation has made their annual fundraising dinner a major event, raising $3 million this year alone.

Although she grew up in a wealthy family in Mexico, Hayek’s life took a difficult turn in her 20s when her father lost his fortune, leaving her to struggle in Los Angeles before her career took off. Despite the challenges, she has always maintained a strong work ethic and dedication to her craft.

Her relationship with Pinault has also given her a unique perspective on wealth and social interactions. While her financial success has allowed her the freedom to not worry about money, she admits it has changed the nature of some of her social encounters, with others often focusing solely on her husband’s fortune.

Pinault, too, continues to expand his business empire. In September 2023, his investment firm became the majority owner of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), solidifying his influence in both luxury fashion and talent management.
