If you’ve been curious about what Harrison Ford might look like as the Red Hulk, Marvel has finally shared a glimpse—and it looks pretty fantastic!
Thanks to a photo shared by Brandon Davis at New York Comic Con, we get our first official look at Ford’s Red Hulk. The visual effects team has done an impressive job, giving the character a look reminiscent of Mark Ruffalo’s classic green Hulk, using Ford’s facial features to shape the creature’s appearance.
Fans on X/Twitter are buzzing with excitement. Ford’s Red Hulk looks fierce, and the reactions are overwhelmingly positive. One user, @iammpemba, expressed their initial doubts about Ford taking on the role, saying, “I didn’t think Harrison Ford would make a good Hulk, but after seeing this, I think he’d make a great Hulk.” It’s hard to believe anyone could doubt Ford’s ability to embody that grumpy energy, which he does so well!
Comments are rolling in, with one user, @veekayset, saying they’re “even more excited for the movie,” and @nithudevadarshh noting, “I can see the fire in his eyes. Let’s gooo!” This wave of enthusiasm is a refreshing change from earlier skepticism regarding Ford’s casting, especially considering the CGI challenges that Marvel has faced in recent years. If Red Hulk’s debut keeps up the quality shown in this reveal, the MCU could be gearing up for a resurgence.
The Red Hulk made his comic book debut in 2008 in Hulk Vol. 2 #1, originally shrouded in mystery and portrayed as a formidable foe lacking any inhibitions. It took the combined strength of Hulk and Thor to bring him down after he wreaked havoc among heroes and villains alike.
Ford’s portrayal of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who will now serve as the President of the United States, will mark his entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Brave New World. He’s stepping into the role previously held by the late William Hurt, who portrayed Ross in multiple MCU films before passing away in 2022.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Ford shared that one reason he continues to work is for the “essential human contact” it provides. Given his history in major franchises like Star Wars, Blade Runner, and Indiana Jones, it’s understandable that he cherishes the camaraderie on set, which is a hallmark of Marvel productions.
To be honest, I’ve felt that the MCU has been losing some of its spark lately, but I’m hopeful that a screen legend like Ford can elevate the stakes and breathe new life into the franchise!
