Marvel has the chance to bring 2 witchy besties back together again, so what’s taking so long?
Since the premiere of Agatha All Along over a month ago, Marvel fans have been buzzing with hopes, expectations, and theories surrounding the series. Each episode has delivered on its promise, but viewers are still yearning for more, particularly the return of a beloved character.
The Anticipation for Wanda’s Return
One character fans are particularly eager to see again is Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch. In Episode 5, we learned that Agatha’s familiar, a mysterious figure named Teen, is actually Billy Maximoff, Wanda’s son. While actor Joe Locke might claim he hasn’t met Elizabeth Olsen yet, that hasn’t dampened fans’ desire for Wanda’s return to the MCU.
In this same episode, the audience was treated to the reappearance of Aubrey Plaza’s character, Rio Vidal. Plaza’s portrayal of Rio adds a new layer of complexity to Agatha, who is already a compelling character. The chemistry between Olsen and Plaza, especially as seen in their film Ingrid Goes West, makes the prospect of their on-screen reunion even more tantalizing.
Wanda’s Presence in the Series
Wanda has loomed as an unacknowledged presence since the very first episode of Agatha All Along. The premiere depicted Agatha as a beleaguered police officer in a small town, where Wanda was the victim of a mysterious murder. By the end of the episode, Agatha manages to break free from the hex that Wanda had placed on her at the conclusion of WandaVision, shifting the narrative focus to Agatha while leaving Wanda behind in Westview.
Off-Screen Chemistry
The potential for a collaboration between Elizabeth Olsen and Aubrey Plaza in the MCU is exciting not just because of their on-screen rapport, but also due to their genuine friendship off-screen. The two have consistently demonstrated a strong connection, dating back to their time on Ingrid Goes West, which won the Sundance Film Festival in 2017. In the film, they play Ingrid and Taylor, two women who form an unconventional bond. Olsen has previously expressed that the highlight of filming was the opportunity to call Plaza a friend.
Their friendship has produced memorable moments, including a hilarious incident at a red carpet event where Plaza pranked Olsen by wearing the same dress. This playful dynamic has endeared both actresses to fans, who are now hoping for a Scarlet Witch versus Rio Vidal showdown in the MCU.
What Fans Want
If Wanda were to appear in Agatha All Along, the show would elevate itself to even greater heights. The inevitable tension between Rio and Wanda would provide fans with plenty of drama and excitement to enjoy. With both characters becoming iconic figures in the MCU, a chance for all three witches—Wanda, Agatha, and Rio—to share the screen would be a treat for viewers.
The MCU has a knack for creating memorable witch characters, and the potential reunion between Olsen and Plaza could further enhance the series’ appeal. Fans are undoubtedly hoping that Marvel will seize this opportunity to bring Wanda back into the fold, allowing for a captivating exploration of the dynamics between these powerful women.
