90 Day Fiancé: Božo’s mysterious professional basketball career, explained
In the latest episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Season 7, viewers were introduced to a new couple: Vanja, a Bosnian-American woman, and her Croatian boyfriend Božo. While Božo touts a career as a professional basketball player, information about him seems surprisingly scarce. So, is he really the star athlete he claims to be?
The Story of Božo and Vanja
This week’s episode followed Vanja, who originally hails from Bosnia but is now an American citizen, as she prepared to meet Božo for the first time. Their love story took off when Vanja visited Split, Croatia, several years ago. During that trip, she swiped through a dating app and connected with Božo, who responded after she had left the city.
Things took a twist when Vanja initially tried to visit Božo, only for him to break things off, claiming he wanted to date someone else. After that relationship fizzled out, he reached out to Vanja again, hoping to rekindle their romance. Despite her friends’ concerns, Vanja decided to give him another chance, albeit with a healthy dose of skepticism. The episode ended with her anxiously waiting for Božo to pick her up at the airport in Croatia, only to find he wasn’t answering his phone.
Božo’s Basketball Career
So, what about Božo’s basketball credentials? His full name is Božidar Vrdoljak, and he currently plays for the KK Adriatic Zadar 3×3 basketball team in Croatia’s third league, known as treca liga, as of October 2024. According to EuroBasket, he plays as a point guard and has logged 252 games.
However, his stats might surprise some fans. At 5’10”, Božo is considered short for a basketball player, and he ranks 3,194th in the world for his sport, according to the 3×3 website. To put that into perspective, his team is ranked 46th out of 47 countries globally.
Mixed Feelings About Božo’s Career
Vanja seems to have mixed feelings about Božo’s basketball career. In her debut on the show, she described him as a “successful basketball player” and referred to him as an “athlete.” While chatting with her friend Fabiana, who remembered their previous breakup, Fabiana noted that Vanja often looks for an athletic type in a partner.
However, when packing for her trip, Vanja’s perspective shifted slightly. She acknowledged Božo’s status as a professional player but quickly added, “But he’s a basketball player in Croatia, it’s not like he’s in the NBA!” This statement highlights her skepticism, especially since Božo does not even own an apartment and is living with his mother.
Vanja’s contrasting comments about Božo’s success in basketball may reflect her doubts about how he portrays himself to her. Only when she finally meets him in person will she be able to discern the truth about her Croatian beau.
