Marvel fans are not having it with ‘Agatha All Along’ disrespecting a legacy character
After finally uncovering what’s been happening with Billy Maximoff in episode 6 of *Agatha All Along*, excitement for the latest episode was sky-high. You’d think that now that Billy is back, it would be an easy path for Wanda Maximoff to return. However, Marvel and series creator Jac Schaeffer have other plans, and fans are not thrilled about it.
In a scene filled with tension and a bit of camaraderie, Billy and Agatha discussed their recent revelations about each other. When Agatha asked Billy if he was just trying to get close to her for information about his mom—who she referred to as her “ex-best friend”—Billy shot back, “I’ll get what I want at the end of the road. And she’s not my mom. I have a mom.”
You can imagine that this didn’t sit well with Wanda’s fans, especially considering all that the Scarlet Witch endured in *Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness* to reunite with her children. One fan expressed their outrage, asking, “Did this kid really just say Wanda isn’t his mom after this lady destroyed Kamar-Taj looking for him and his brother? The AUDACITY!”
Many fans chimed in with memes depicting someone being outraged while another character gets slapped. Lines like “PLEASE DON’T PISS ME OFF, BILLY!” and “BILLY, WHEN I GET MY HANDS ON YOU!” flooded social media, along with exclamations like “WATCH THAT TONE, BOY!” from viewers of *Agatha All Along*.
Most fans felt heartbroken that Billy and Wanda’s stories had led them to this confrontation, especially since neither had much choice in the matter. It’s tough to hear Billy’s dismissive words, especially for those who witnessed Wanda’s struggles in her recent MCU appearances. However, it’s understandable from Billy’s perspective. He’s grappling with his identity, especially since he was reincarnated in the body of someone named William Kaplan, who died in a car accident that was partially caused by the fallout from Wanda’s Hex spell in Westview.
Billy has no memory of his life before the crash, whether as Wanda’s son or as Rebecca Kaplan’s son, who has been raising him for the past three years. Naturally, he might harbor some resentment toward Wanda for upending his life, even if it was unintentional.
But Billy’s comment doesn’t tell the whole story. Just moments later, he asked Agatha if Wanda Maximoff—using her full name to emphasize his point—was truly dead. Agatha initially replied “yes” but then mischievously corrected herself with a “no,” finally settling on a vague “maybe.” While it might not seem definitive, that’s the clearest hint we’ve had about Wanda’s fate in a long time, fueling our hopes that rumors of a Scarlet Witch solo movie could be on the horizon. In the meantime, will we see the queen of the MCU make an appearance in the final episodes of *Agatha All Along*?
We’ll find out when the last two episodes drop on Disney Plus on October 30!
