‘Game of Thrones’ star headlines loaded ‘Brothers’ cast in new movie on Prime

Every family has its share of drama, and the one depicted in the new Prime movie Brothers takes it to another level. This crime comedy stars twin brothers played by Peter Dinklage, known for his role as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, and Josh Brolin, famous for his portrayals of Cable in Deadpool 2 and Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The film follows the brothers, who come from a long line of criminals, navigating their chaotic lives of crime. Their upbringing has shaped them into felons, and as they try to avoid serious trouble, they find themselves dodging bullets, dealing with their overbearing mother, and eluding law enforcement. The central question of the movie is whether they can escape their past and avoid ending up in prison.

In the trailer, Dinklage’s character highlights their dynamic by stating, “I had the plans; he had the hands.” Brolin, who bulked up by 20 pounds for this role, plays a reformed criminal aiming to live a straight life. However, his plans are thrown into disarray when his twin brother, played by Dinklage, reappears, disrupting everything he’s trying to achieve.

Behind the Scenes Insights

Director Max Barbakow shared some fun behind-the-scenes details about the making of Brothers. He revealed that it was Brolin’s idea to appear in tighty-whities during a comedic shower scene in a motel room. On the first day of filming, Brolin called Barbakow with the suggestion, saying, “I think I should be in my tighty-whities in this scene. I think that would be appropriate.” He even proposed munching on a Nutter Butter cookie during the scene. The plan involved Brolin falling off the motel balcony onto a car, and they filmed it in pouring rain, adding to the hilarity.

Barbakow mentioned that the film has a lot of quirky moments, including scenes with an orangutan and a cadaver on a golf course. He said it felt like they had “an embarrassment of riches” during the editing process.

He also praised the cast’s camaraderie, sharing that between takes, Brolin once commandeered a techno crane and chased Dinklage around in a pink wig, striking poses for the camera. Barbakow noted how surprising Glenn Close was in terms of her willingness to try anything, revealing that she even mooned the cast at one point, showing her fun-loving side.
