Beachside stray proves he don’t need no man when he secures his own sunset dinner
A captivating TikTok video has recently gone viral, showcasing a man taking a sunset stroll with a stray cat along a picturesque beach on an unspecified remote island.
The 110-second clip, shared by user @mermaid.kayleigh, features her husband, @camgrantphoto, walking alongside a cat affectionately named “Midnight” by the resort staff. As they stroll, Midnight suddenly notices a splash in the shallow water and quickly halts to investigate. After a brief moment, it spots the source of the splash—a small fish—and springs into action.
With impressive agility, Midnight catches the fish and proudly carries it to a nearby set of deck chairs, where it joyfully begins to eat its fresh catch, marking the start of a delightful meal in a stunning seaside setting.
The video has ignited a flurry of reactions on TikTok, with users praising Midnight’s hunting prowess and seemingly idyllic lifestyle. Comments poured in, with admirers noting, “Living their best life, sunset walks on the beach, fresh fish, the kitty is thriving,” and “Omg him eating his fish, on a beach chair at sunset. He’s living the dream.”
Viewers were also struck by the cat’s intelligence, with comments like, “What a resourceful little baby,” and “I like how he doesn’t want to get sand on his fresh catch.” Many were particularly impressed that Midnight took the fish to a clean surface before eating, with one user exclaiming, “Why is no one blown away by the fact that he took the fish all the way up to a clean surface to put it down and then eat it?! That cat is a genius.”
However, not everyone was thrilled with the outcome for the fish, as some users expressed concern, questioning, “Was I the only one thinking that poor fish was eaten alive?” and “Does this hurt the fish?”
Hygiene-conscious users chimed in, commenting on the cleanliness of the beach chair, with remarks like, “100% would not believe that the blood stain I found on a beach chair was from a wildcat eating a freshly caught fish on it in the sunset,” and “Ofc he went to the fabric.”
Cat owners also took the opportunity to compare Midnight’s lifestyle to their domesticated pets, sharing anecdotes like, “My cat will only eat a certain brand of food,” and “Looked at my cat and sighed.”
One particularly witty comment highlighted the cat’s fresh diet: “Forget farm to table. It’s sea to beach chair.” According to Catster, there are estimated to be between 60 and 100 million stray and feral cats in the United States, but it’s hard to imagine many enjoying a lifestyle as luxurious as Midnight’s!
