It’s been over a decade since One Tree Hill, the beloved teen drama series, wrapped up its final season in 2012. Even after nine seasons, the show still holds a special place in fans’ hearts. Now, exciting news has emerged: One Tree Hill star Sophia Bush is joining the cast of Grey’s Anatomy, one of TV’s longest-running medical dramas.
Currently in its 21st season, Grey’s Anatomy is ABC’s longest-running scripted primetime show. Bush, known for her role as Brooke Davis in One Tree Hill and appearances in shows like Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, and Good Sam, made her Grey’s debut announcement with an Instagram reel showing her in blue scrubs, saying, “I just wasn’t done with my scrubs.”
As reported by People, Bush will play Dr. Cass Beckman, a trauma surgeon at Seattle Presbyterian who’s “amiable, fun, and a bit messy around the edges.” Her character’s husband, Dr. David Beckman, is also a new cardiothoracic surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, where much of Grey’s Anatomy takes place. Dr. Cass is set to appear in episode 6 of the season, airing on November 6.
Playing a doctor isn’t new for Bush. In 2022, she starred in Good Sam as Dr. Sam Griffith, where she had a special reunion with former One Tree Hill castmates Hilarie Burton and Bethany Joy Lenz, bringing Brooke, Peyton, and Haley back together on screen for the first time in over 14 years. “We were like, ‘Wow, it’s been 14 years since we acted together,’” Bush shared in 2022.
And fans of One Tree Hill have even more to look forward to—a reboot is reportedly in the works! Set a couple of decades after the original series, this new version could see Bush and Burton reprising their roles as Brooke and Peyton, now parents of teens themselves. Other original cast members haven’t been confirmed yet, but there’s plenty of nostalgia to go around.
Meanwhile, One Tree Hill fans can revisit the series through the Drama Queens podcast, hosted by Bush, Burton, and Lenz, where they recap episodes, share memories, and dive into behind-the-scenes stories from their time on the show. The podcast, which launched in 2021, has become a go-to for fans eager to relive the magic of One Tree Hill.
