Richard Gere rises from the dead to look tired and mad in the second TV show of his career
Richard Gere, a celebrated icon in film, is making a return to television with *The Agency*, an upcoming spy thriller series from Paramount Plus and Showtime. This will be Gere’s second major TV role following his 2019 performance in *MotherFatherSon*. *The Agency*, adapted from the acclaimed French series *Le Bureau des Légendes* (*The Bureau*), stars Gere alongside Michael Fassbender. Gere plays Bosko, the head of London Station, who oversees Fassbender’s character, Martian, a CIA agent with a complicated past.
In an interview with *Entertainment Weekly*, Gere shared his admiration for the original series, although he admitted he’s unlikely to watch himself in *The Agency*. He expressed his nervous excitement on set, attributing that energy to his enduring love for acting. The show’s production quality impressed him, noting it was on par with high-budget films. Fassbender hinted at plenty of suspense, while Gere promised each episode would deliver unique surprises to set the show apart from its French predecessor. While no premiere date has been announced, *The Agency* is anticipated to start streaming in late 2024.
