What was Melania Trump’s age when she met Donald?

Melania Trump has managed to keep a low profile lately, and that seems to be her goal.

The former First Lady has taken almost every step to distance herself from her husband, Donald Trump, and it looks like she’s succeeding. While she occasionally pops up in memes and gives a few interviews about her husband, it’s clear that she checked out of their marriage years ago.

Even though she’s still a Trump, she made it clear that she wants space. She walked away from her husband the moment she had the chance, yet she hasn’t officially filed for divorce. Those designer handbags must be hard to resist! So, it seems Melania is in it for the long haul, even if she prefers to keep her distance from the family.

She certainly isn’t defending him from afar, and considering she didn’t leave him after numerous scandals—his affairs, his harsh remarks toward women, the way he treated his daughter, the Capitol insurrection, multiple impeachments, or his felony charges—it’s unlikely she’ll make a move now. Melania enjoys her status as a Trump but isn’t keen on being around the family.

Looking back to when they first met, it’s likely Melania had stronger feelings for Donald. She probably loved him at that point, but as the saying goes, youth can be naive. Melania was relatively young when she crossed paths with Donald, especially compared to his much older age.

How Old Was Melania When She Met Donald Trump?

Melania and Donald Trump first met at a party in New York City’s Kit Kat Club in 1998. At the time, Melania was a model, which likely caught Donald’s attention—known for his questionable behavior toward women. However, they didn’t actually start dating until a year later, after Donald finalized his divorce from his second wife, Marla Maples.

By November 1999, they were officially dating and even did some rather awkward interviews with the infamous Howard Stern. They briefly broke up in 2000, but they got back together and got engaged in 2004, with Donald gifting Melania a jaw-dropping $1.5 million engagement ring. They tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in 2005, and their son, Barron, was born a year later in 2006.

When they first met, Melania was 28, while Donald was 52—almost double her age! By the time they got married, Melania was in her 30s, and Donald was approaching 60. When Donald announced his presidential run, Melania was in her mid-40s, Barron was still under 10, and Donald was nearing his 70th birthday.

Despite the significant age difference, his legal troubles, and the evident lack of interest between them—honestly, it’s hard to believe Melania even likes him, let alone loves him—they’ve managed to stay together for 26 years since their first meeting. They’ve successfully raised a child together (or at least tried) and are now contemplating another potential move to the White House.
