Jason Sudeikis and Warner Bros. have a ‘Ted Lasso’ season 4 update
When *Ted Lasso* Season 3 premiered in 2023, fans were hit with a mix of emotions. There was an unmistakable feeling that this might be the final chapter for Ted and his crew. Jason Sudeikis had previously mentioned his plan for a three-season arc, so it felt like we were saying goodbye for good.
But here’s the good news: it seems we may not have to bid farewell just yet! Recent updates suggest that a new season could be in the works, which is fantastic news for fans of the beloved show about soccer (or football, depending on where you are!). Despite Sudeikis’s initial plans, the show’s unexpected success has sparked renewed interest in continuing the story.
This ray of hope came to light in a segment on the TODAY Show, which cited Variety’s reporting. Channing Dungey, a Warner Bros. executive, shared that they are feeling optimistic about the potential for a new season. “We were always clear… there wouldn’t be more *Ted Lasso* unless Jason and the team were excited about it,” Dungey stated. “And I can tell you firsthand, he’s in a place where he’s feeling really excited and good about it.” So, it seems our favorite coach from AFC Richmond might be gearing up for a comeback!
The third season wrapped up nicely, tying together various storylines. Ted ultimately chose to return to America, passing the torch to Roy Kent, Coach Beard, and Nate to lead AFC Richmond. Yet, Ted didn’t leave the world of soccer behind; it became a true passion for him, and he found a new role as a children’s football coach.
Meanwhile, Rebecca fully stepped into her role at the club, free from the shadows of her ex-husband. She remained the team’s heart and soul, both figuratively and perhaps literally, as she reconnected with the Dutchman and met his daughter—an added touch that hinted at her nurturing side.
One storyline that felt a bit unfinished was the love triangle between Roy, Keeley, and Jamie Tartt. When Keeley was faced with choosing between the two, she kicked them both out—what a power move! Despite their romantic futures being left up in the air, Roy and Jamie continued their friendship, showcasing the beauty of healthy male bonds.
Overall, the season ended perfectly, tying up most loose ends while leaving a few threads dangling for potential future exploration. Honestly, I believe another season of *Ted Lasso* could be just what television needs right now. In the past, we’ve seen TV thrive with shows like *Ted Lasso*, *Succession*, *Barry*, and *The Bear* all competing for awards glory. It’s been a while since the Golden Globes faced such a tough decision on which show deserves to take home the accolades.
With a new season possibly on the horizon, we’ll get to follow these lovable characters on more adventures while infusing our lives with positivity, kindness, and a wealth of memes. A show should definitely know when to end, but it should also recognize when to keep going. And I’m thrilled that Jason Sudeikis seems to have figured that out!
