Walmart employee who died in walk-in oven’s identity revealed
The tragic case of Gursimran Kaur, a 19-year-old Walmart employee found dead in a walk-in oven in Nova Scotia, has shocked the local community and raised numerous questions regarding the circumstances surrounding her death. While the exact cause of death has yet to be officially reported, the Maritime Sikh Society of Nova Scotia indicated on a GoFundMe page that Kaur “burned to death.”
Kaur had been working alongside her mother at Walmart for two years. On October 19, the day of the incident, her mother became concerned after losing contact with her daughter for about an hour during their shift. Attempts to locate Kaur through her colleagues yielded no results, and her phone was turned off. Hours later, in a harrowing turn of events, Kaur’s mother checked the walk-in oven in the bakery area and made the grim discovery of her daughter’s “charred remains.”
Emergency services were alerted, with dispatchers noting that a female was “locked in an oven in the bakery,” which was reportedly still operational at the time. Unfortunately, Kaur was declared dead at the scene, and a stop-work order was subsequently issued for the bakery. Walmart has announced that the store will remain closed until further notice, stating that employees will continue to receive pay or alternative work arrangements during the investigation.
The specifics of how Kaur ended up inside the oven remain unclear, with local sources indicating that the oven in question was not capable of locking but was large enough for a person to fit inside. This ambiguity has added to the complexity of the investigation, prompting police to ask the public to refrain from spreading speculative information on social media.
Kaur and her mother immigrated to Canada from India three years ago, while her father and brother remain in India. The GoFundMe page established to support her family aims to help her father and brother travel to Canada during this difficult time. Community leaders, including Balbir Singh from the Maritime Sikh Society, have expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing Kaur as a “young, beautiful girl who came to Canada with big dreams.”
As the investigation continues, the family and community await answers, while the wider public is reminded to approach the situation with sensitivity and caution, recognizing the profound impact this tragedy has on those directly affected.
