Mark Hamill channeled his inner Luke Skywalker for a fun guessing game that pits quotes from Star Wars villains against those from Donald Trump, though it’s safe to say that Trump won’t be appearing in any Star Wars films anytime soon.
Hamill shared a video on his social media X account where he participates in a game called “Trump or a Star Wars villain?” In this lighthearted challenge, the off-screen interviewer reads a quote, and Hamill has to guess whether it’s from a Star Wars villain or from Trump.
Surprisingly, one iconic line—“I am your father”—wasn’t among the quotes, which would have certainly made Hamill chuckle. He definitely wouldn’t have guessed “Trump!” for that quote, as it would have been a plot twist worthy of The Empire Strikes Back.
The first quote was “I am the Senate,” which comes from Emperor Palpatine. Hamill correctly identifies it as a villain’s line, although he might have considered that Trump could have said something similar at some point. Next up was the quote, “You’re rich as hell. We’re gonna give you tax cuts,” and Hamill quickly dubbed it “the orange atrocity,” recognizing it as Trump’s.
However, Hamill got stumped on the quote “Unlimited power.” He admitted that it could apply to both a Star Wars villain and Trump, but ultimately, it was another classic line from Emperor Palpatine. This prompted Hamill to reflect on the characters: “The problem here,” he remarked, “is that Darth Vader redeemed himself. The former president is far worse than Darth Vader. I don’t know if he’s worse than Emperor Palpatine.” At least, unless Trump starts shooting lightning from his fingertips, as Palpatine does.
As the game progressed, one quote about empowering the police clearly belonged to Trump. Hamill noted something he finds interesting about the former president: “One of the things I love about him,” he said, “is that he says what he’s going to do and you’ve got to believe him.” Hamill expressed gratitude that Trump is open about his political agenda rather than keeping it under wraps, even referencing Project 2025.
In a twist, one quote didn’t come from either Trump or a Star Wars villain; it was actually said by Rudy Giuliani: “Let’s have trial by combat.” Hamill quickly realized this and noted Giuliani’s recent legal troubles, including losing his $6.5 million apartment due to defamation claims related to the 2020 election.
Before wrapping up the video, Hamill had a message for Trump supporters: “My message to MAGA,” he said, “Go Force yourself!” It was a clever nod to both his Star Wars roots and his opinion on the current political landscape.
