Connections is the latest engaging puzzle game from the New York Times that challenges players to categorize a set of 16 words into four distinct groups based on their relationships. Each puzzle resets nightly at midnight, presenting a new challenge with varying levels of difficulty. Similar to Wordle, you can keep track of your winning streak and compete with friends to see who can solve the puzzle fastest.
Some puzzles can be more challenging than others, so if you find yourself struggling with today’s Connections, check out our helpful tips and hints below. If you still need assistance, we’ll provide the answers at the end.
How to Play NYT Connections
In Connections, you’ll encounter a grid of 16 words, and your mission is to sort these words into four sets of four by uncovering the connections that unite them. These sets could represent various concepts, such as titles of video game franchises, sequels to book series, different shades of red, or names of popular chain restaurants.
It’s important to note that while some words may seem to fit into multiple categories, there is only one correct solution for each puzzle. You have the option to shuffle the words to help visualize the possible connections more clearly.
Each group of words is color-coded to indicate its difficulty: the yellow group is the easiest to decipher, followed by green, blue, and purple.
To make your selections, pick four words and click Submit. If your choice is correct, those words will be removed from the grid, and the connecting theme will be revealed. However, if you guess incorrectly, it counts as a mistake, and you have a total of four mistakes before the game concludes.
